South to North Atlantic Crossing by Small Ship
From 30 - 38 days - Mar-Apr - From US $ 890

Spend up to 38 days experiencing the ‘fire and ice’ on the frozen tundra of the Antarctic Peninsula and the warm tropics of the equator. You will enjoy the natural wildlife and scenery of these two extreme climate zones, as you sail from an area with less than 200 years of history to one with more than 500 years of culture. Aboard a Russian research vessel, your adventure will start at the southern end of the world where you will observe a multitude of penguins and seabirds, the ruins of the Nordenskiöld hut, an abandoned whaling settlement, and the grave of the polar explorer Shackleton. You will also have the awesome experience of a zodiac cruise between the stunning fjords and icebergs.

As the adventure continues toward more tropical climes, you will pass amazingly lush islands that sit in the middle of the ocean, far from anywhere, giving you the chance to marvel at the pristine beauty these fabulous islands offer up. Sailing still farther north, you will be followed by northbound migrating birds as you cross the Equator and head for the Cape Verde Islands--a collection of isles with a variety of natural phenomena, friendly locals, and cafés and streets full of island music and other unique expressions of local culture. This journey will take you from the sparkling white of the south, across the equator, and to the colorful warmth of the north--creating a lifetime of memories that showcase the best each hemisphere has to offer.

NOTE:  The 2007  voyage will  end  in Sal, Cape Verde.
