The adventure starts in the beautiful and historic town of Longyearbyen, where you will board a research vessel perfect not only for the high latitudes through which you will sail, but also for the many wildlife viewing opportunities that will be present. This 12-day journey will take you around the islands of Spitsbergen as you view some the world’s most unique and scenic landscape. You can marvel at the beauty found in the stark contrast between the dark purples of the mountains that tower in the distance and the cool white and blue of the ever-present glaciers. The colors found in the vegetation that dot the landscape seem out of place in comparison to the “polar desert” of the area. And still there is more to see.

The animals of the north are both amazing and mythical. You may have the chance to see birds of all kind, reindeer, polar bears, whales that have come back from the brink of extinction, and even a sub-species of goose that can only be found in this part of the world. The north arctic offers scenery and experiences that will create a lifetime of memories, and all you have to do step aboard the ship.
