Accommodations

Iceland on Horseback - Forest and Lava
8 days - - Jul-Aug - From US $ 2,723

You will stay in farm houses and mountain cabins with soft comfortable beds, a welcome sight after a long day of riding. Each farm house or mountain cabin will have running water, and most have indoor bathing facilities. While out on the trail, some nights will be spent in a sleeping bag sharing a room with the other riders but, each night will be spent on the comfort of a mattress, whether it is on the floor, a bed, or a shared bunk bed. On a few of the adventures, each night will be spent in a made-up bed.

Your lodging will be based upon the progress of your journey. As you get further down the trail, and the cities melt into beautiful countryside, your lodgings will become more rustic, but no less comfortable.

Although not all farm houses may be the same, an example of a typical farm house lodging set-up would include accommodation in two separate buildings next to the farm house. One building offers two double rooms which share a bathroom facility (shower & toilet), the other building houses two showers and two toilets. Two more rooms can be found in the basement, one containing three beds, the other four beds. Upstairs are three more rooms, one with three beds, one with four beds, and one with six beds. Each room contains at least one bunk bed and generally is shared by two to four people. Every effort will be made to accommodate couples in double rooms and, depending on the amount of guests, it may be possible to use more rooms as doubles.

Heating will be included at all overnight lodgings, and most have electricity and electric lights.

Your breakfast and evening meals will be prepared by the cook that drives the kitchen van; your lunch will be taken with you to eat while out on the trail. Water, juice, coffee and tea will be provided, and there might be an opportunity to purchase beer and wine.

The thermal pools or traditional Icelandic hot tubs you may encounter along the way are a fantastic way to relax and take in the natural wonders of the surrounding area.
